Tomatoes are coming in

In between marathon feltball making, our tomatoes have started ripening. I prefer the heirloom varieties with the Brandywines being my favorite. They do not mature as quickly as the hybrids,
though. So we usually plant a couple hybirds to tide us over until the Brandywines are ready.

And here they come now! Whoo--hoo! I don't know if its been the extreme heat we have had in August (95-98 degrees for weeks) or what but the tomatoes this year do not have has much juice and are making great puree. And salsa. I put up a batch of salsa earlier this week. As an added benefit, canning makes my husband smile.
